New Player | Bar Conte
We are happy to announce our newest addition, Bar Conte, on our Surry Hills Tour.
Bar Conte is the World’s first dedicated Negroni Bar and Italian Restaurant in Sydney, offering a unique selection of over 30 Negronis made with premium products. In addition, the bar boasts an extensive list of rare Italian Vermouths, Bitters, and Amari.
The kitchen is overseen by chef and co-owner Steven De Vecchi (ex-The Apollo). The menu features Italian dishes ranging from light Aperitivo snacks to hearty pastas and mains. Small goods from Pino’s Dolce Vita in Kogarah include Negroni-infused salami, prosciutto di Parma and Bresaola, and there’s Negroni-infused dressing for the appellation oysters. Burratina is served with Nduja and Friariello, a bitter green that’s an Italian staple.
Founder Raffaele Lombard's belief in the transcendence of the perfect Negroni drives his aim to bring a taste of his own native Italy to Sydney through Bar Conte. Honouring the Italian tradition of aperitivo and digestivo, the bar offers a unique experience for those open to embracing the complex flavors of the classic Negroni.

The 1920’s Tuscan wine bar concept has a touch of American speakeasy charm, apparent in the comfortable and stylish 38-seater space, with leather banquettes. The handsome green Italian-marble bar takes centre-stage surrounded by walls adorned with vintage Italian film and drink posters. The intimate space is designed to create a homely atmosphere for guests, where drinks and food are prepared from the heart.
When we pop in on a Friday night the place is buzzing with well-dressed locals enjoying end-of-the-week drinks and eyeing-off the next tables rich and tasty dishes of pasta, deciding if that’s the dish they should order next.
The best part is if you have a big night on the Negroni’s you can return the next morning for an espresso (by Ona coffee) and a fresh pastry to ease you into the day. Now that’s a true Italian lifestyle moment.
