New Player | Bar Sopra

We have always been mad-keen fans of Bar Sopra, since the venue first opened in the heart of Potts Point in October 2020. Meeting friends for a quick Friday night drink with added tapas dishes as the night progressed. It’s also where we shot a segment of a recent ad with Tourism Australia - but more on that soon.

With winter upon us we have decided to switch-it-up and change our starting point for Potts Point to this small but beautiful space, with a Euro vibe from a bygone era, juxtaposed with contemporary nuances. Located on the perfect corner of Macleay Street and Challis Avenue in an established dining precinct. Pumping on summer nights, when al fresco dining is encouraged. Or cosy and comfortable in winter, with plush leather seats and banquettes to nestle into sipping the latest cocktail.

Bar Sopra has the same owner as La Bomba - a more casual cafe right next door on charming Challis Avenue - which has one of the best seafood paella’s in town! We take our corporate Potts Point lunchtime bookings here and our guests always enjoy the chance to dine al fresco.

Watching the diverse parade of Popo locals dining at the fine selection of nieghbouring restaurants which includes Fei Jai, Fratelli Paradiso and Bistro 916 is always a pleasure.

Kennedy - the Bar Manager - is serious about making good-tasting cocktails using seasonal ingredients and the latest methods. Influenced by his fellow bar peeps in the ‘hood, he regularly compares notes on flavours and influences when creating each new drink on the menu. So rest assured he will find the right cocktail for your taste buds. There’s a Spanish theme running through the menu of seafood, meat and vegetarian tapas, cheese and charcuterie boards.

Potts Point has been keeping locals & visitors alike amused since the 1940’s and she does it well. Admire the grandness of Macleay Street’s Art Deco apartment blocks at the ‘Paris end’. Whether you’re dining alfresco on a vibrant laneway with seventies-style lights or in a grand terrace house on Kellett Street, you will feel the history amidst the innovative menus and cocktails.
